Loving the Tropical Discotheque Vol 2, Beane. Particularly loving Cristina Lover. The first Tropical Discotheque is still doing damage, too.

September 2009
1. Jimi Oh - Del 2 Candy | CDR New cut from Leicester beatmaker Jimi Oh previewed out in the big smoke down at Red Rack Em's recent night at The Vibe Bar. They weren't ready! 2. Jonathan Jeremiah - What's a guy to do | 10" Lovely 4 track EP with my favourite stand out song being the gorgeous "See" with it's 4 Hero-esque strings. Also liking the Massive Attack cover version too. 3. Andreas Saag - Jazz lapse | CDR New from the Swell Session maestro! Not sure if this is lined up for a release yet but due to get lots of love over on the weekly Noodle Hotpot shows. Jerky house shuffler complete with jazz lickssssss. 4. Sa Ra Creative Partners - Age of Nuclear Love LP | Ubiquity LP While many sit on the fence regarding the Sa Ra (myself sometimes included), I"m really into their new LP. Cosmic, spacey and at times right out there near saturn somewhere. Don't believe me? Check the rare foray into the uptempo with the "Move your ass" cut. Wowzer. 5. Patrick Smaaland - Back slow | Rush Hour 12" Shout to Henry Rare Colour for passing this onto me. Where was I when this came out a few years back eh? Yet more detroit-flavoured heads down house grooves out of Amsterdam. Ticks all the boxes. 6. Tropical Discoteque Volume 2 EP | Sofrito Specials 12" While I missed volume one of this series I wasn't gonna be so foolish again and snapped this straight up. With all 4 tracks new to my ears, if anyone knows I'd be interested in finding out who the original artists are but for now I can't get enough of this ep - slightly caribbean, slightly afro tinged beast of an EP. 7. Jimmy Abney - More than | Yoruba | CDR Killer cut from the album last year. Coming on like a cross between Dwele, D'Angelo and someone else I can't put my finger on I think this is absolutely beautiful. One of those tracks that once heard stays on loop in the internal jukebox all day. 8. Rare Colour - CDR heat | CDR Big up the Beeston massive! Not sure of any titles here so tune in to the sunday shows for some exclusives. 9. Jazztronik - Real clothes | Mukatsuku CDR Forthcoming Japanese flavour by our man in the east. Tipping the hat to those old big Philly twelves this sounds like it could of been made 30 years ago and that's no bad thing. BIG strings for the floor. 10. Hudson Mohawke - Rising 5 | CDR While we all wait with baited breath for the full LP this serves as a lovely little canapé. All synthy, squidgy and broken and a lot more accessible thn some of the previous work of the Hudmo, this is up there with some of his best beats. 11. John Daly - Space Walk / Morning Light / Lightyears | Mule Musiq 12" Am I right in thinking this is the geezer from 90's classic dance outfit Leftfield? Mule Musiq are turning out to be one of my favourite labels as everything they seem to put out, regardless of genre, is heavy with this no exception. Well nice deep spacey house. 12. Clyde - Swedish blue | CDR One of my favourite cuts from the new Duck album recently released via m8mc music. Long been a follower of Derby-based Clyde and loving this track. Make sure you get on the whole album. 13. Marvin Gaye - Inner city blues (Drilla edit) | CDR Before you even listen to it your thinking 'oh no' but this is lovely. With all echoed out vibes this is a properly nice take on an old classic. Give it a chance peeps! 14. Mark E - Freakin and Shreakin / Formed | Under The Shade 12" It's the Grace Jones long drawn out edit that's doing it for me on this new 12" from what I gather is the new label from Jisco. Taking "La Vie En Rose" as a starting point and creating a similar edit in vein to his huge "Baby I'm scared" track, this is perfect for the end of summer BBQ's. Just builds and builds 15. Rhythm Plate feat. Clyde - Bring it on back | CDR First heard this at FYE North last year but finally got my grubby mitts on it. Lovely hypnotic groove. You know where to go to hear this lot www.beane.podomatic.com -------------------- |

October 2009
1. Bill Withers / Al Green - Railroad man / Everything is ok (Ashley Beedle edits) | Cosmic Boogie 12" The Mindless Boogie label offers up it's 2nd release on sister label "Cosmic Boogie" and by jove it's a good un. Bill Withers spoken word opus gets given a fresh twist on one side while the die just edges it for me as Beedle give his own extended take on Al Green's "Everything is ok". Sounded brilliant down at the Soul Buggin' Birthday Party last week. 2. Zero 7 - Everything up (Zizou) | CDR A brand new Zero 7 production is always worth a look in and as the new album drops the first single is sounding lovely. Sounding slightly more 'rock' in flavour than previous affairs this is a welcome return to one of my favourite downtempo outfits. 3. Floating Points - Vacuum EP / Truly | Eglo 12" With the producer of the year crown pretty much sown up already, Sam Sheppard ain't done with us yet as the huge "Vacuum Boogie" detroit-flavoured house cut that's been tearing up floors of the more discerning discotechs finally gets an official release. With the brilliant "Truly" and "Argonaute II" on the flip, this is one hell of a package. 4. Cottam - Cottam | Cottam 12" So we are told a mysterious techno producer is behind this one. Still scratching my head thinking who but whoever it is, I'm really into this long Erykah Badu-sampling slo-mo beatdown house cut. Limited to 300 I hear so don't sleep on this one. 5. Seiji - Can't let you go | CDR A new direction for Paul Dolby? I hope so as I can't help of be reminded of all those 90s rave anthems when I listen to this with those keyboard stabs. With a slooooow vocal layered over the top this needs a re-edit as at 3.30 minutes this is far too short! 6. Loud E - I don't wanna go | Abassador's Reception 12" Been a bit of a sleeper anthem 12" this on my weeky hotpot shows. While "Drums Detour II" is the one getting a lot of attention, this needs a mention too. 7. Christo - Derby / London / Paris | M8MC CDR Straight off the back of the firing Duck Album Launch Party we threw at Moog a few months back this one really took me by surprise. Not instantly one of my favourite tracks from the album but it's crept up on me and got right under my skin. Uber deep! 8. Red Rack'em / Hot Coins - Place For Me / Chinese Electro | Autodiscoteque 12" Has to be one of my favourite RR/HC 12" for a while. One side a kind of 80s new wave disco cut while the flips all moodymann-esque heads down 2am gear, complete with phased in vocal loops and stabs. Love it! 9. Deep Space Orchestra - Riding in my Imaginary Jeep | CDR Deep, throbbing and nasty. Oo-er. Forthcoming Deep Space Orchestra gear in the vein of Motor City Drum Ensemble. Keep your eyes open for a release, soon I believe! 10. New Sector Movements - Groove now / New goya | People 12" Completely missed this! Apparently came out in 1997 but I was knee deep in drum and bass and Byker Grove back then. Awesome broken workout picked up 2nd hand last week. 11. Franck Roger - Summertime EP | Bentino's Record Sound 12" Shockingly I don't own any Franck Rodger but currently loving this, again picked up in a sale 2nd hand with my fave cut being "4 da people". Shout to jakkattak! 12. Space Rangers - Thriller Dub | CDR Always been surprised that out of all the big jacko hits "Thriller", arguably one of his biggest, has hardly been touched. Been saying for yonks that a dub needs doing and bosh - here we go! Lovely stuff 13. Dorian Concept - Trilingual Dance Sexperience / Tropical Hands | Affine Records 12" Fack me. Ravey davey gravy wonk hop at it's best! File next to that new Seiji cut. Totally bonkers 14. Dompteur Mooner - Music For Espionage | Super Tahoe Edits 12" Weirdo electronic glitchy cosmica out of germany with what must be the record sleeve of the year. 15. A Bossa Electrica - Priaia do Futuro EP | Connective 12 Lovely summery latin tinged gear. Shout to Kev Beedle for the heads up on this one U know where to go to hear this little lot... ;-) -------------------- |

Hey Beane. I've just been going through some of your charts and listened to the Scrimshire - All roads lead you home track, it sounded familiar i think it contains some of "Claude Debussy - The Girl with the Flaxen Hair". Can someone have a listen and tell me if im imagining things.

Buffer! Your right - wow. Good spotting Lovely clip by the way - cheers for the info Right - my last chart till we do the HUGE end of year run down next month November 2009 1. Hudson Mohawke - Butter LP | Warp Brilliant full length of weird glitchy wonk hop. Incorporating vocals, rave sirens, crackles, pops and the kitchen sink this is another awesome release on the ever dependable Warp label. Fantastic artwork too. 2.LCD Soundsystem - 45:33 (Theo Parrish remix) | DFA 12" So after a very lengthy wait it finally arrives after mucho hype and not alone either. Coupled with a whole host of remixes from some of the scenes leading players it's still the Theo remix that does it for me. Wasn't sure about it at first but then heard Domu play it out loud at our Soul Buggin' night in June and blew up (quite literally - the speakers almost went). 3. Greg Wilson - Credit to the Edit 2 sampler | Tirk 12" Sampler for volume 2 which is on the horizon I think. Big edits here of A guy called Gerald and Roxy Music. Classic anthems treated with respect and lovingly re-touched for the incoming party season. 4. O'Spada - Time | CDR Well in an idea world this is the sort of pop music we'd have on X Factor but alas, it's left to the Swede's to do it for us. Sounding almost like Hudmo if he focused his sights on a top ten invasion hit - I'm loving this! 5. Domu - This is house EP | Swedish Brandy 12" No mucking about here. This is house and that's the end of it! More fire from domu with 3 blistering house head cuts from Sweden via Bedford! 6. Saag - Rose Rouge | Gamm 12" The original is one of my favourite tracks of the last 10 years and I really shouldn't like this but I'm all over it. Taking the original, slightly housing it up a little, and then chucking in some proper massive piano action this is going to destroy a dancefloor. 7. Bim Marx & Master Khan - Unknown | Stilove4music 12" No info. Black label. Nowt. I'd love to know what these 4 edits are cos' they're bloomin ace. 8. Deep Space Orchestra - Riding in my imaginary jeep | CDR Not sure if this is coming out but more chuggy chug chug gear from the DSO. More tuffer than previous tracks and stripped right back but still keeping that hypnotic groove. 9. Tensnake - Holding back my love | Running Back 12" What is the original of this? Or is it a new vocal? Either way it's gorgeous. Definitely getting an airing at our next Soul Buggin' party at Moog. 10. Musique - Jumpin' (Francois K remix) | Prelude 12" Evaded my clutches for years but finally I've got a copy, albeit in the FK remix form. All about the end for me. Forget about the Lisa Marie / Todd Terry versions - gotta be the original everytime. 11. Dalunartikz - Higher | Arthrob 12" Missed this first time round but picked up last week in a winter sale. Heavyweight. 12. Anorak Edits Volume 4 - Various | Anorak 12" Again, next to no info on these 4 edits but I'd bet my bottom dollar the track called "100mph" is the purple maestro in full effect. Great EP. 13. Joy Orbison - Hyph mngo | Hotflush 12" Shapping up to be one of the dancefloor cuts of the year. Heavy Detroit flavoured broken bass wobbler that's destroying every dancefloor it's dropped on. 14. Sasso feat. Diana Charlemagne - Hold on tight | Sing Sing 12" A great 2nd hand find with my favourite being "Hold On Tight". Lovely! 15. Carlito - Heaven | Creative Source 12" Well, winding things up this month is an old classic I pulled out for my long over due "Days Gone By" drum and bass mix. A total anthem for me and arguably one of my favourite D&B cuts of all time. You can find my mix over on my podcast page, give it a whirl! You know where to hear all this lot :-) -------------------- |
