I am currently at home, 1am on a Saturday morning, trying to finish a deadline for Sunday evening. And keeping me company and importantly the inspiration and motivation up, is a masterpiece of a podcast from Gilles Peterson.
I hate in anyway to hype things which is prevalent and the nature of the blogsphere, music should be found organically where the true appreciation can be made. But this is one of the finest things GP has ever done, something so good it needs to be shared now, so you don't have to miss valuable time NOT listening to this gem of a show/podcast.
Beautiful music by the best radio DJ of his generation.

Too drunk to articulate properly
But I will say that those podcasts (and Gilles' shows over the last 6-8 weeks) were a constant companion during my little trips abroad.
I thought the Jay Electronica one was brilliant (he came across well and I liked his insights into New Orleans, a place I once visited and fell in love with), and I really enjoyed the Aaron Jerome one... nowt showy.. just nice chat between two people who love their music.
Proper music

This is so nice -- must have sounded even better in the small hours. Thanks for the heads up Sanjiv.

I listened to this at work over the weekend. Thanks for the heads up Sanjiv.
Totally brilliant. Deep and dark just the way 'we' like it.
If i was to give the mix a title, i'd call it: "The Peterson's Farewell To Winter Mix". Because there were a number of my personal Gilles P 'winter' faves in the mix. Like: Stan Tracey "Starless And Bible Black" - That is pure winter bizznizz. Beautiful music
It was also good to hear Billy Gault's "The Time Of This World Is At Hand" - Truth Lyrics. And - it's ALL about the 2nd verse of the tune where those loopy horns accompany the vocalists as she wails away. Does my head in every single time. BELIEVE!!!
Obviously, i freaked out when "Gol E Gandom" came on. That blows me way every single time. Mindblowing music. An An-All time Brownswood Basement Favourite.
My tune of the mix award:
Hozan Yamamoto "Ina Bushi" (LAWDY! Love love love this. Dark and Flutey - just the way 'we' like it. And another Brownswood Basement (sept 2001) classic/favourite).
Gilles P - take bow. simple
: )
