Looks alright if you've got more brass than brains.

Been invited to Snowboy's official book launch tomorrow night. Gilles, Chris Hill and Dr Bob on the decks. One of them VIP invite only numbers...

What's the point in that? Guess they don't want any riff-raff.

Er... the venue chosen, a very nice but smallish private room @ Jewell in Piccadilly, has a max capacity of 200. It was a special event by invitation only to family and friends and contributors to the book. There simply wasn't the room for all and sundry... get the point now?
The forthcoming event at Cargo is open to all...

Beyond The Ballroom Link

Anyway... I had a great night! Many of Snowboy's interview subjects were in attendance. Keb Darge, Eddie Pillar almost all of the original Soul mafia jocks inc Chris Hill (now in his 60's) who I haven't seen for over 20 years, Swifty and Janine, Bradders, Bangsy, dancers Jerry, Perry etc. GP was a no show so Dr Bob and Bradders spun the soundtrack. All in all a great midweek night out.
BTW, anyone seen the surreal bit of Jap Jazz Dancing on the SNC blog spot....

One little clear up. I'd almost forgotten myself. I guess we got 16(!) bottles of vodka (quite a surprise when they gave it us, me and gaz mayall that is) because in those far off days playboy magazine was seen and rightfully perceived as being as sleazy and as unjazz and certainly as unyoung (if there is such a word, if not i just made it up) as it was possible to get. And we had a kind of shocked look on our faces, what with them not saying a word to us about it. And we had gone round the block 3 or 4 times cos the club we had done for the previous nite had "transformed" into a bunny hole.
the japanese kids drank it up with great speed. 'cos the drinks in that place were way out of their pocket price..
a good deed all round methinks.

gee i'd have loved to go to the party. But Budapest is a long way away and my Trabant wouldn't have made it. I coulda borrowed a Wartburg or a Barkas though. Economical on the petrol, 2 stroke engine too.

Easy Paul. Was wondering when you'd pop in. wink.gif
How was the boat party?

polmarfi- 06-28-2009
The boat was great, Serbia is a bit like being on the Klingon Homeworld "Eat Federation! This Chevapscici is freshly killed! More Slivovitz bloodwine!!! Ahhh! Rain!! Its good!!"

You know, the usual..

Sid Ford- 06-28-2009
* bows down *

polmarfi- 06-28-2009
Please! Its not the middle ages.

The circumstances and place of the interview I did with The Snowman was actually more interesting than the subject matter..

Its all highly outrageous.. Im saving for a rainy day.....

Welcome to Brownswood Paul.

Wrighty- 06-28-2009
jazz cap doffed to the guv'nor, welcome to Brownswood, I spent many a weekend amazed by thr tues and the dancing upstairs in Camden

polmarfi- 06-29-2009
u can say what u like to me and say what u like about me but i really am not into this bullshit bowing and scraping cap doffing bullshit. i never bowed the knee to NO MAN and i do not want to ever in my life have another human being do the same for me..DIG?

polmarfi- 06-29-2009
Its not Goulash,, that is a soup. what you mean is called porkollt here. Its great .

Duna is high, more than 3 meters higher than normal...

The number one DJ of all time for me is Colin Curtis. The number 1 radio dj as you know is Charlie Gillett. There will never be anyone in the same league. Maybe Gilles Peterson.

I think Curtis is the most influential dj of all time too. (except for the Yanks) There would hardly be a Northern Pop Band without him, and without Northern Pop Music the UK would only have Spandau Ballet and Elton John. Thats about the level of Latvia.

Everyone else doesn't even compare with him. Maybe Ian Levine. He just couldn't get the sound right on his records he released. But Levine knew his music. I met him a couple of times. I met Curtis too. What a dj. I doubt they even remember me. There hasn't been one person in Dj'ing ever to compare with Curtis. They should just write books about him. When I read this stupid stupid bullshit about so called influential dj's and they never even mention Curtis I just think "What can these people know about music?"

I hope you all go mad about this. But it's true. And you know it.
