Thanks for the welcome and the comments guys.Much appreciated.
Black Music grabbed me at the age of 12 and to still buzz off it 44 years later
is a good feeling.Especially when accompanied by people who share that
PASSION !! Respect all round.

Hi to WeeGee thanks for the shout.

FDA I will keep you posted about the Mint Lounge and upcoming Frodisia gigs.
Along with the Movement nights I know Bruce Q is still going strong in Birmingham
as he has for years well supported by the "dancers",hopefully will be pulling something together with him too.The next Soul Underground is SOUL UNDERGROUND @ THE RAINBOW
SATURDAY 27th JUNE 2009 the guest is Paul Sutton from Brighton.

Hey to Paul Brad and Snowboy ! A great effort and a labour of love !

Wrighty No mate I haven't seen these guys forever too ! A great bunch of guys back in the day ! Jonathon I talk to quite a lot and did a gig in Derby with him at Syn on the last bank holiday before May,great night packed and lots of faces in the room Bulldog etc .Jonathon of course still does Southport.
I am back in Derby doing a Blue Note Club Revival with Devon Daley and Paul Sharp on the May bank holiday Sunday 24th should be another top night with faces
and dancers from Jazz/Boogie/Fusion/Soul.

Appyammer Al Blimey Knebworth that was a day out wasn't it we flew down to
Luton airport, taxi to Knebworth incredible sight maybe 8,000 people then flew
back to Blackpool Mecca to play an alldayer. I've got my jazz beard to Al :-)
Big respect to you.

Shiftless Shuffle Rock City those were the days 82-85 1500 people on a friday
night two rooms along with the rammed alldayers great people and venue.Big
shout to Jonathon and Paul Mason for pulling all that together.Edgar & Calvin,Simon Smith etc.
And Preston Clouds another top venue in its day.You pre empted me on the Mecca Mix I am putting one together titled Mecca The Last Hour Sessions I will
let you know when I post it :-)

Vijnas Hi don't know why but Colin Curtis and London never did quite gel
probably too busy up north to be fair. But do remember doing a boat for Tony
Monson we brought a coach down and were met by the late James Hamilton
I always enjoyed my excursions to London chasing the tunes Greek Street,Mole
Jazz,Paul Murphys store,Virgin,Honest Jon's,City Sounds and many other markets
and shops tucked away in the East End.
Birmingham was another of my favourite haunts Diskery and Jazz & Swing.
Many enjoyable hours spent and hooking up with some great folks Norman,Giles,
Tongy,Jeff Young,Chris Brown,Sean French and of course two of my top boys
George Power who I brought to Cassinellis and Paul Trouble Anderson who
we brought to Birmingham Locarno !!!

But ultimately Snowboys book is what's got us all back on here so massive respect to Mark for ploughing through many years of fact and fiction to lay something down
that the people on here can relate too a great achievment !!

Colin

Sanjiv reckons he's already read the whole thing...

The Sanjster has read the whole thing. Because back in the day (early 2001), in a never published interview*, Snowboy took a call whilst we chewed the fat in a cafe next to the Jazz Cafe. I asked who was that on the phone. And The Snowster replied some jazz bod who wants to be interviewed for my book. Book? What book I asked.....and I patiently waited 8 yeahrs for publication.

*Probably explains why Blues and Soul (RIP) never published the interview, too much chat, not enough questions.

Colin

Welcome Colin

I didn't know about the Blue Note Club revival night as I used to always be in there and spun/warmed up on the same bill once with you in Derby many years ago. I'm still in Derby so will try and make it along to this, not seen Devon for a few years either

Myself, Wrighty and Beane run a super monthly night in Nottingham, personally I would love to have you guest one month, sure that we could sort something out? cool.gif

Wrighty- 05-14-2009
Sid, you should definitely get the MFOS album too. It's brilliant with a great cross section of Snowboy styles, there's a great 2 step soul tune, and a version of New Avengers

Now now Wee Gee.

Colin - The book's my pleasure mate. I had a love/hate relationship with it whilst doing all the research etc but I'm glad it's done now and nearly out. Regarding the Blue Note revival: Why is Neal Neale not on it? He's about as interviewed him for the book. Wasn't he the main DJ there? I'd like to have interviewed Paul Sharp (a lovely guy) but he gracefully declined.

Sanj - Is that Sanj from Northampton? A top man indeed. Much love to you, and thanks so much for all your support in years (yeahrs) gone by. Well, I never interviewed you because you'd have known - you'd've had a mic in your face - but we've had a thousand indepth chats havn't we? Hopefully see you soon.

Well, it's all rather friendly on here isn't it?

Snowboy

Mark,

There is only one Sanj-iv biggrin.gif No Northampton business, strictly London or St Albans.

Being serious I interviewed you for Blues and Soul in 2001.

Mark Res here - a newbie @ 45 years young - know loadsa the peeps on here - will go and say "yo" in the correct place soon.....nice to be here - never even knew this Forum existed till I saw a link from it about Snowy's book..!! Well, well, well...

Will start posting up some stuff now that I know you cats are here but first just wanna say a few, sincere, words about the man called Snowboy and the amazing book he's just published...

Have got to know Snowy well over the past few years and have known about the book's future publication for a long time too. Mark and I have had many, many chats doen the years about Jazz, the scene, the old days, the future and all of the other stuff 2 elderly musos should be chatting about at this stage of their lives - and - believe me, this man has given a BIG chunk of his Life and Soul to make this book happen and we as music lovers (and friends!) must reach deep into ourselves and help support this thing...IT'S IMPORTANT.....not something I could ever have contemplated doing myself and it must have been a helluva job collating all of the info contained therein...!!

Well done that man...

Love to all Mark 'Res' O'Shaughnessy

PS - Smashing to see another true innovator on here too - Colin Curtis - my Gad - if I had even one tenth of Colin's love of music, I'd be a rich man...!

Easy Mark! You still down Brixton way?
We use to chew the fat a bit down the Prince Of Wales a few years back - remember?
You tried to sell me some overpriced 60's British jazz vinyl and I sold you a couple of "The Sound Of Brixton" tees! (Very rare and sought after they are too! wink.gif )
Welcome to Brownswood... and you didn't even mention Resolution Records! biggrin.gif
I'll do it for you shall I? (for 10% commission of course biggrin.gif )
