What have we here? Big subby basslines, plenty of amen breaks, and snares flying about all over the bloody shop.
Here's a mix consisting of some of my favourite drum and bass/jungle tunes from 1993 and 1994, my formative raving years. I didn't go to that many raves in 1992 as I was rarely allowed out all night and I was well jealous of my mate's who were. Things changed in 1993 however and I was out most weekends, most often to a little club called Milwaukees near Bedford, or to big dos at the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes, and a couple of times to AWOL in London. These tunes take me back to a time before pressures and responsibilities, where I could just be lost in music, awash in a sea of dry ice, rushing my little nads off.
It's a bit rough round the edges but came out better than I expected considering it's the first time I've used my decks in at least two years. The mix starts with one of the last good hardcore records and then follows the move away from that scene during 1993, as jungle/drum and bass found it's own identity, before blowing up big-style in 1994, and ending with 'Circles', one of the finest examples of the era, still sounding incredible today.
