Latest JJ's smokin' session ...No.54... "Alice Russell" .. fave tunes and the usual dialogue and stuff.

..expect soul, funk, reggae, jazz, house and all points inbetween from the criminally under-rated Ms Russell.

Cheers
JJ

A little surprised to see Alice up next, but then I've never really fully investigated her music, so this is the perfect opportunity, cheers.

She was in a friend's studio about 5 years ago and we got her to do vocals on a track of mine but she was having trouble with the last line and she ended up not finishing it. Gutted! It's looking fairly doubtful she will now!

Herbie Hancock special up next (concentrating on the soul/funk/disco stuff and some of the great session work he did during that period with the likes of Miroslav Vitous and Harvey Mason to name a couple).

She was lovely!

Enjoyed this, she is a great singer.

One glaring omission though!

Alice Russell is brilliant.

I saw her a few years ago supporting Nightmares on Wax at the Brigewater Hall in Manchester.

just her and a piano brilliant.

Since then I have seen her fronting the Quantic Soul Orchestra a few times as well.

Once again she was excellent.

Enjoying the mix in the car at the moment.

Bring on the Hancock.

I've watched her three times in the past four years... The last one was just two days ago in Berlin / Alexanderplatz and it was the best performance of her i saw so far.
